Know Your Suzuki Outboard Motors
Finding the perfect hull and fittings for your boat is only half of the equation when choosing a boat. The second half is selecting which engine best suits your needs and your preferences.
Quality is of the essence to us, which is why we choose to work together with Suzuki Marine outboards in engineering the ideal boat.
Check out some helpful facts about Suzuki Marine outboards to help you decide which engine would suit you best.
- Suzuki is known for building engines that blend performance and power with the latest features and cutting-edge technology. Another innovative concept that is a first in the industry is what they call Suzuki Selective Rotation.
- Selective Rotation is only offered on certain models, like the Drive-By-Wire series, but they are the world’s first outboard that combines standard and counter-rotation operation in the same lower unit by the flick of a switch during installation.
- Suzuki Outboard Motors delivers like no other with its high gear ratio, fuel efficiency, and reliability. Outboard motors are mounted over the rear of the boat, with their propellers dangling in the water to propel the boat forward. They are capable of running anywhere between two and 350 horsepower, producing more speed at greater horsepower.
- Suzuki’s powerful setup for Engine and Gear as it let you experience the fusion of speed and smoothness through its sophisticated technology. Which is perfect for larger boats with more than one outboard.
- One of the best that the Suzuki engine can offer is Multi-stage induction, which enhances engine performance by changing the length of the intake manifold according to engine RPM. The system utilizes two intake manifold pipes per cylinder, one operating at low RPM and the other operating at high RPM.
- When the engine is operating a lower RPM, air enters the combustion chamber through the longer curved manifold pipe. The length of the pipe is designed to improve combustion and boost low-end torque.
- As the RPM increases past a threshold, the valve on the direct intake pipe opens, letting air enter directly into the combustion chamber through the short, straight intake pipes. The engine will receive a greater volume of air thus improving the high-speed power output.
One of the popular questions that people ask is how does Suzuki fight saltwater corrosion? Suzuki uses a basic four-part system to fight the effects of saltwater corrosion:
- Beginning with the use of high-grade aluminum alloys for the engine castings.
- Next comes the three-part surface treatment that begins with a thorough chemical cleaning of the casting to eliminate anything that might prevent the adhesion of the surface coating after the chemical cleaning, the parts are submerged in an electrified bath of chromium oxide. The bath changes the make-up of the casting’s surface and creates an invisible barrier that literally becomes a part of the casting
- An extremely hard but resilient epoxy resin primer is baked on. Finally, the castings are given a final coat of urethane marine grade paint. This paint cures to a tough, yet lustrous finish, completely sealing the engine from the saltwater environment.
Overall, we believe that Suzuki Marine offers a durable, strong and economical choice, particularly in the long run. Feel free to check out some of our Suzuki Marine OBM models available in the Philippines.
